Travel and Lodging

TRAVEL FUNDING

The National Science Foundation, Mellon Foundation, and Harvey Mudd College have provided funds for travel support (transportation and lodging) for 25 participants on a first-come basis of up to $600.  There is no special application for travel funding - we will email funding confirmations to participants.   AT THIS POINT OUR FUNDING HAS BEEN EXPENDED.

LODGING

Participants will need to make their own hotel reservations. A block of rooms (10 king and 10 double occupancy) is reserved within walking distance at the Doubletree Hotel, 555 W. Foothill Blvd., Claremont, California, 91711, USA TEL: +1-909-626-2411.   The rate should be $122/night for Sunday and Monday nights.  It will be about $140 per night including the 12% occupancy tax and $2.50 tourism tax each night.  This is for one King or Two Queen Beds - if you are receiving travel funding, please share a room if possible.

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The conference will take place in the Shanahan Teaching and Learning building on the campus of Harvey Mudd College. Here is a campus map.

AIRPORT

The closest airport is Ontario (ONT), which is served by several airlines.  Other regional airports are considerably further from Claremont, but could offer direct flights, including SNA (John Wayne Airport, Orange County, Santa Ana) and LAX.

TRAIN

Claremont is served by Metrolink, which has regular trains from Union Station in Los Angeles.  There are flyaway busses from LAX to Union Station.

PARKING

If you are driving to the conference, there is ample free parking along either side of Foothill Blvd. Here is a Google Map showing the location of the building: https://goo.gl/maps/2tvbLuVHUEM2.
